The Ignored Girls College of Hijrat Colony

Nation progress and develop through education. Without education no one can empower themselves. Women education is one of the important issue of our country. They are not providing with sufficient facilities to acquire the knowledge and become professionals. Even they don’t have access to basic and preliminary education.

In 2007, with courtesy of our local Nazim Mr. Sharif Awan a foundation was for a girls’ College in Hijrat Colony with the hope that it will facilitate and support the local population as our major population is composed of Pakhtoon and Hazara brotherhood. They are reluctant to send their girls to colleges outside the colony. Hence their future regarding acquiring education after matriculation grade has become uncertain.
Local leaders aren’t enough educated to raise voice and to speak to the higher authorities to approve budget for the under construction girls’ college which is the prime need of our colony. More than 70% work has been done as far as construction is concerned while the remaining 30% has to be completed.

If the government machinery i.e. the education ministry didn’t take an urgent step to complete the remaining construction work of the college, it will go in wrong hands. Even now it used by various political and Mafia groups for earning money by selling if for parking.
We’ve requested our local MNA to sort out strategy and force the education ministry to complete this college immediately. He has promised that he will talk to Mr. Nisar Khoro to sanction optimum fund to complete the remaining construction work of the college as soon as possible.
Approximately Rs. 50 million more budget is needed to complete this mega project of our colony and it will provide college level education to the half million population of both sultanabad and Hijrat colony. The girls will remain in the colony premised and will curb women illiteracy in particular.

Almost Ten years have passed and no one is giving attention to this key issue of our community. On Behalf of My Blog, I request the education ministry and responsible persons to kindly look into this matter on priority basis and remove the barriers that are preventing the college to be completed and functioning.
Here we are still working for this issue with my organization to get attention of higher authorities to work on this issue, because this is the basic need of our area where our female participation is very less in any college and university level.
First Lady Michelle Obama's said in her speech on the importance of educating girls: "When Girls are educated, Their Countries become stronger and more prosperous".
So we need this college have to be open soon so that our girls can get higher education and take part in different activities of our society.
